The police in Karachi are currently investigating the alleged abduction of a 16-year-old maid from an apartment near Seaview, according to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the city police. The incident, which took place a month ago, came to light after the victim’s father brought it to the attention of the local media and gained traction on social media platforms.

A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged by the Darakhshan police under Section 365-B of the Pakistan Penal Code, which pertains to kidnapping and abduction of women for forced marriage. The FIR stated that the daughter had left the apartment at 11pm on August 15 to buy something but never returned. Despite their efforts, the family was unable to find any leads. The father suspected that an unknown person had abducted his daughter, possibly for unknown reasons or sexual purposes.

The DIG stated that the complainant informed the police that his daughter worked as a maid at the home of a cousin of a well-known spiritual guide in Sindh. Initial investigations revealed that the girl had used a mobile phone without permission, which angered her employer. Consequently, the employer contacted her father to bring her back home. However, the girl allegedly left the residence and her current whereabouts remain unknown.

The police have questioned several individuals in connection with the case and have formed a joint investigation team to make progress. The DIG assured that arrests are expected to be made soon, which could potentially help solve the case.

Meanwhile, the girl’s father, in an interview with a Sindhi TV news channel, expressed his concerns and suspicions. He alleged that his daughter may have been killed or sold by her female employer, who is reportedly a member of a spiritual family in Pir Jo Goth. The father claimed that upon learning about his daughter’s disappearance, he was forcibly confined within the employer’s house for two days. Neighbors apparently heard the girl’s cries and screams on numerous occasions. When the father raised the issue with Naeema Shah’s brother, Pir Lalan Shah, he allegedly received threats and warnings to drop the matter.

The distressed father urged the police to take his daughter’s case seriously and expressed his disappointment with the lack of attention given to the matter.

The police are continuing their efforts to locate the missing teenager and ensure a swift resolution to the case.
