In the town of az-Zawayda in central Gaza, neighbours have been tirelessly working to collect the body parts of dozens of people who once lived in the Nisman family home. The home was completely destroyed by Israeli warplanes at 4am local time.
The Nisman family had recently fled from the Shati refugee camp in the west of Gaza City following Israeli orders to move south, seeking refuge with the Nismans. However, the attack on their home proves that there is no safe place in the Gaza Strip.
Fadi, a resident, described the attack as an “atomic bomb” and shared the horrific task of collecting body parts scattered across the area. His neighbour, Wael al-Mahanna, compared the attack to a powerful earthquake and emphasized that there was no warning from the Israelis and that the neighborhood had civilian residents.
Tragically, no one in the house survived, with approximately 45 people inside at the time of the attack. At least 15 bodies were taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah, with the blast causing damage to surrounding homes and devastating the residential block.
As the Israeli offensive in Gaza continues, the death toll has reached nearly 18,000, including around 8,000 children. More than 48,700 others have been injured, and an additional 7,780 Palestinians are still missing, feared to be dead under the rubble of their homes.
