Help Line 1093 Restored for Complaints of Dog Bites in Sindh

Karachi: The helpline 1093 has been reinstated for complaints regarding stray dog bites in Sindh. A petition was heard in the Sindh High Court regarding action against stray dogs and lack of vaccination, in which the Project Director of the Anti-Rabies Control Program submitted a response to the court.

The response stated that the helpline 1093 has been reinstated for complaints of dog bites. Over 19,000 dogs have been vaccinated from January 2022 to March 2024. Rabies control centers have been established in 4 districts. Laws have been made to control the increasing population of stray dogs. Dog Population Control Centers will be established in every district of the province.

A notification to establish Dog Population Control Centers in each district on February 29 has also been issued. A mobile app has been developed for complaints regarding stray dog bites and incidents of dog bites. The app will be activated for the public after Ramadan. Citizens can file complaints with images and addresses of stray dogs. The vaccination process for stray dogs is ongoing. The court has adjourned the hearing until May 4.
