Akbar S. Babar, a founding member of PTI, expressed concerns about the party’s operations in relation to its internal poll process and hinted that he would raise the issue with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The party had announced that it would hold the internal elections as mandated by the ECP on December 2, and the process of receiving nomination papers had begun. Babar visited the party’s central secretariat in Islamabad to gain information about the polls and made three requests: provide nomination papers, provide the voter list, and provide the election rules. However, he claimed that the secretariat staff informed him that the nomination process was just an “exercise on paper” to comply with the ECP’s order. Meanwhile, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, nominated for the position of party chairman, submitted his nomination papers. Babar had previously rejected Imran’s nomination of Gohar, calling it a “selection instead of an election”. The office of the Peshawar division commissioner also sent a reminder to the PTI CEC to provide necessary information for security on polling day, as law enforcement agencies were concerned about security plans.
