In Karachi, the record for the average temperature in May has been broken, and the Meteorological Department has predicted that the heat wave will continue in the coming days. According to the details, the Meteorological Department’s Early Warning Center has forecasted that the current heat wave will continue in Karachi for the next several days, with the possibility of higher than normal humidity levels in the air.
During the next several days, the temperature in the central Sindh regions could exceed 47 degrees Celsius due to the heat wave. The Meteorological Department has stated that on Wednesday, the humidity levels in the air increased and a record was set for hot and humid conditions. During this time, the temperature reached a high of 36.9 degrees Celsius, which was 1.1 degrees higher than the average temperature for May.
The Meteorological Department has clarified that despite the winds blowing at a speed of 21 kilometers per hour, conditions like a heat wave did not occur. Even though the city experienced hot and humid weather, the humidity level in the air on Wednesday afternoon was 59 percent, after a 5 percent increase compared to the previous day.
It should be noted that last night the humidity level in the air increased to 75 percent, causing intense heat and suffocation, which led to the feeling of higher temperatures than the actual temperature during the day.
According to the Meteorological Department, the highest temperature recorded was 36.9 degrees Celsius, and on Wednesday, the temperature was 1.1 degrees higher than the average temperature for May.
