Pakistan recently struck terrorist hideouts in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province, leading to the death of nine individuals. This act was in retaliation to Iran’s previous violation of Pakistan’s airspace, which resulted in the death of two children. China has called for both countries to exercise “calm and restraint” and offered to mediate between them. The United States condemned Iran’s strikes and maintained that Iran was not well-liked in the region. India stayed neutral in its remarks, urging the two countries to resolve their dispute through diplomacy and dialogue. Turkiye and Afghanistan also urged for restraint and diplomacy, while Russia called for maximum restraint and warned against further escalation. The European Union expressed deep concern over the “spiral of violence in the Middle East and beyond” resulting from these attacks.
