“Pakistan identifies HR abuses in Palestine and held Kashmir as major global challenge” – Alvi and Kakar

President Dr Arif Alvi and Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar expressed their concerns about the ongoing human rights violations in Gaza and Indian Occupied Kashmir. They described these violations as the biggest challenge facing the world and the United Nations. This comes as the international community observes Human Rights Day to mark the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The President pledged Pakistan’s commitment to upholding all rights as enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and other relevant international instruments.

President Alvi highlighted the deprivation of rights and state terrorism in Palestine by Israel, and the international community’s failure to take action against these violations. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar expressed concern about the pressing human rights situation in Palestine and stated that collaborative efforts at national and international levels are vital to address the complexities involved in dealing with human rights issues.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized the importance of promoting and respecting all human rights. He also highlighted the increasing levels of violent conflict, growing inequalities, discrimination, hate speech, and the climate emergency in the world today. UN Human Rights Chief Volker Turk also highlighted the deepening inequalities, increasing discrimination and hate speech, growing divisions and polarization, and the climate emergency in a statement.
