In 2023, during incidents of robbery and looting, 135 people were killed and more than 1150 citizens were injured in Karachi. According to statistics, there were over 11 incidents of resistance during robberies in various areas of the city, resulting in armed robbers firing and killing 135 people, while injuring over 1150. The victims of the firing included traders, shopkeepers, students, religious scholars, government officials, police officers, and workers from various walks of life. There was a 14% increase in the killings of citizens during robberies in comparison to the previous year. In 2022, 118 people were killed during incidents of looting, while in 2023, there was a 14% increase in killings, with a total of 135 people killed in the first month of January. The incidents continued in the following months, with February seeing 11 people killed, March with 10, April with 12, May with 15, June with 10, July with 11, August with 8, September with 14, October with 10, November with 11, and December with 8. The eastern district of Karachi suffered the most casualties, with 35 people being killed by armed robbers, while the central district also experienced a high number of casualties, with 26 people killed. The western district ranked third in terms of deaths, with 23 people killed, followed by Korangi with 18, Malir with 15, Kemari with 14, and the southern district with 2 casualties.
