Lahore: Former Governor Sindh, Muhammad Zubair, has said that due to not getting a mandate in the 2023 elections, Nawaz Sharif himself stepped back from the position of Prime Minister.

While speaking on the Express News program Center Stage, Muhammad Zubair admitted that there was no possibility of the PML-N winning before the 2023 elections, as some people in the party made wrong decisions and mismanagement.

He stated that it is true that Nawaz Sharif had come to become the Prime Minister but due to not getting a mandate in the elections, he stepped back and made the right decision. Criticizing the PTI government after the vote of no confidence, he said that the 16-month government’s performance was poor in every aspect, whereas the Muslim League-N was also divided in the opposition with statements of reconciliation and resistance, but now Nawaz Sharif, who wants to do politics, is not doing so and has buried the slogan of giving respect to the vote.

While criticizing the PTI government, he said that no government or Prime Minister is forcefully sat on the throne. The basis on which Nawaz Sharif was called was the wrong opinion.

Further explaining the defeat in the interim elections in Punjab, he said that in the interim elections in Punjab, the PTI won 16 seats out of the 20 seats, which showed the success of the PTI, sending a signal that the PTI was winning.

Criticizing one’s own government, he stated that elections were not held in Punjab in 90 days. Not holding elections within 90 days was a violation of the Constitution. It was strange that two days before the completion of five years, the Assembly was dissolved.

Defending his party, he said that everything was going against the PML-N in 2018. The PML-N was targeted for revengeful actions, divided, and ARY was brought in. In 2018, the PML-N performed well in Punjab.

Lastly, he pointed out that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz had two statements when the PML-N was in opposition. One was of reconciliation and the other was of resistance. The party was divided, with some members pursuing a policy of opposition and others pursuing a policy of reconciliation.
