Elon Musk and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese are in a dispute over the removal of posts related to a church stabbing on social media platform X. An Australian court has ordered X to block users from accessing footage of the attack on an Assyrian Christian bishop in Sydney. Albanese has criticized Musk for challenging the takedown notice issued by the country’s internet watchdog, calling him an “arrogant billionaire” who is out of touch with social responsibility. Musk, who owns X, has indicated that he will fight the court order, arguing that allowing any country to censor content for all countries sets a dangerous precedent. Australia’s government has blamed social media posts for inflaming tensions in the community following the attack on the bishop. The attacker has been charged with terrorism offences.
