Asad Qaiser of PTI Released from Central Prison Mardan Following Withdrawal of Detention Order by Swabi DC – Pakistan

Asad Qaiser, the former National Assembly (NA) speaker and PTI leader, was released from jail on Wednesday after his detention order under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance (MPO) was withdrawn. The Peshawar High Court directed Swabi Deputy Commissioner Tariqullah to withdraw the detention orders and warned of action if not complied with. Qaiser was released on the condition that he would not disturb the peace, instigate the public against the government, raise slogans against state institutions, abide by standard operating procedures, and produce a bail bond worth Rs100,000 with two sureties. He was initially arrested on charges related to procurement irregularities in the Gajju Khan Medical College and was later re-arrested in a case related to the ransacking of the Charsadda Toll Plaza. Qaiser has been arrested five times and was granted bail in three cases by the PHC. On his release, he thanked party workers for their support and announced plans to hold a rally and participate in the general elections.
