The bombing of a Jewish community center in Argentina in 1994 resulted in the deaths of 85 people, and Hezbollah has been accused of other attacks in the country. The United States has charged Samuel Salman El Reda, an alleged Hezbollah member, with providing material support to the terrorist group and linking him to the 1994 bombing. He is accused of assisting with the truck bombing of the AMIA Jewish community center in Buenos Aires. El Reda, a dual Lebanese-Colombian citizen, remains at large and is said to have coordinated activities for Hezbollah’s Islamic Jihad Organization in South America, Asia, and Lebanon since at least 1993. The bombing continues to be a source of controversy in Argentina, and the country has also accused Hezbollah of carrying out an attack on the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires in 1992.
