The initial details of profits and losses from the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have been revealed to the public.

Overall, Central Income Pool is expected to accumulate over 7 billion rupees, with each franchise receiving over 98 crore rupees. However, expenses such as player salaries, hotel accommodation, air ticketing, etc. will range from 55 to 60 crore rupees, with each team having a separate account. After paying the franchise fee, many teams may end up in losses.

Franchises will also receive money from their sponsorships, with at least 3 teams expected to make profits, while others like Multan Sultans may face losses. Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings may also incur losses, but Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators, and Peshawar Zalmi are expected to benefit.

In Rawalpindi, matches were affected by rain, and in Karachi, the low crowd turnout led to a loss of up to 17 percent, amounting to 100 million rupees. Due to the rising dollar rate, player salaries have also reached up to 37 crore rupees. PCB is currently awaiting the compulsory revenue from some stakeholders, after which final accounts will be made.

According to sources, ticketing saw a 17 percent decrease in revenue this time, resulting in a loss of approximately 100 million rupees. Most franchises had requested PCB to start in Karachi and end in Lahore, but the authorities did not agree, leading to losses later on.

Learning from this bitter experience, a plan has been made to host only 5 matches in the National Stadium in the upcoming tenth edition. This year, player salaries also increased up to 37 crore rupees due to the dollar rate.

On the other hand, the governing council meeting of the PSL is expected to be held next month, chaired by PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani. Important decisions will be made after discussing various matters during this occasion.
