Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has reached a significant milestone in his career, becoming the fastest pacer to achieve 100 wickets in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

Afridi achieved this feat during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday when he dismissed Tanzid Hasan in the first over.

Breaking Mitchell Starc’s previous record of achieving the milestone in 52 matches, Afridi reached the 100-wicket mark in just 51 games.

It is worth noting that Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane achieved 100 wickets in 42 matches, while Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan reached the milestone in 44 games.

Fastest pacers to 100 ODI wickets:

  • 51 – Shaheen Shah Afridi (Pakistan)
  • 52 – Mitchell Starc (Australia)
  • 54 – Shane Bond (New Zealand)
  • 54 – Mustafizur Rahman (Bangladesh)
  • 55 – Brett Lee (Australia)

Shaheen Shah Afridi made his international debut in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is in 2018.
