It has been over two months since the Israeli authorities initiated an attack on Gaza in response to Hamas’s assault, resulting in the death of 1,200 people, mostly Israeli civilians. The Israeli offensive aimed to eradicate Hamas, but leaked documents reveal a plan for the forced and permanent transfer of Gaza residents to Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. The strategy involves leaving Gaza uninhabitable through destructive attacks on civilian infrastructure and a strict siege on the territory. This would lead to the voluntary departure of the population, with neighboring countries like Egypt ready to “absorb them”. However, Egypt and Jordan have vocally opposed any displacement of Palestinians to their territories. This “Plan B” approach to ethnic cleansing is met with resistance from the Palestinian people and neighboring countries.
