An Israeli air strike in southern Gaza on Sunday resulted in the deaths of two journalists, including the eldest son of Wael Al-Dahdouh, Al Jazeera’s Gaza bureau chief. Mustafa Thuria and Hamza Al-Dahdouh, a journalist with Al Jazeera, were killed as they were on their way to report in the Gaza Strip. Wael Dahdouh, who is well-known to viewers, had previously suffered the loss of his wife, daughter, grandson, and son in an Israeli air raid. Two rockets hit the car carrying the journalists, with one hitting the front of the vehicle and the other hitting Hamza. Wael Al-Dahdouh was seen crying next to his son’s body in a video posted on an Al Jazeera-linked YouTube channel. Al Jazeera Media Network condemned the killing of the journalists, calling it a deliberate attack, and urged for accountability from international bodies. The Gaza government’s media office reported that the deaths raised the tally of journalists killed by Israeli offensive to 109. The war erupted when Hamas attacked Israel, resulting in a high number of casualties, including civilians.
