The Adelaide Strikers emerged victorious in the Women’s Big Bash League 2023, defeating the Brisbane Heat by three runs in an exciting final at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

Laura Wolvaardt and Tahlia McGrath’s partnership helped the Adelaide Strikers score 125-5 after being sent to bat first. Wolvaardt top-scored with 39 runs off 33 balls, while McGrath contributed 38 runs off 34 balls. Brisbane Heat’s Nicola Hancock impressed with bowling figures of 3-23 in four overs.

In their run chase, Brisbane Heat struggled, with Amelia Kerr top-scoring with an unbeaten 30 runs from 32 balls. The Adelaide Strikers bowlers, led by Amanda-Jade Wellington, restricted Brisbane Heat to 122-8 in their 20 overs. Wellington was named the Player of the Final for her exceptional bowling performance, taking 3 wickets for 16 runs in four overs.
