Former Pakistan cricketer Abdur Rauf’s recent statements about star pacer Shaheen Afridi have sparked controversy amid criticism of his performance in the ongoing first Test against Australia at Perth’s Optus Stadium.
Shaheen Afridi has long been regarded as the backbone of Pakistan’s pace attack, but the left-arm bowler has been underwhelming in recent matches.
In Australia’s first innings, he returned with disappointing figures of 1-96 in 27 overs.
Rauf expressed concern that Shaheen Afridi may be at risk of re-injury if he does not work on his technique, and he also doubted the team’s ability to dismiss Australia twice in the match, citing a lack of team chemistry and the reliance on individual specialists.
