Lahore: Poverty, inflation, unemployment, parental pressure, and failed love resulted in the suicides of 89 people last year in the provincial capital of Punjab. The individuals who committed suicide included young boys and girls.

According to the obtained statistics, in the month of January, 4 men and 1 woman committed suicide, while in February, 5 men and 3 women did so. Similarly, in the month of March, 2 men and 3 women committed suicide, and in the month of April, 4 men and 5 women did the same.

In the month of May, 5 men and 4 women committed suicide, in June, 6 men and 4 women, in July, 4 men and 4 women, and in August, 5 men and 3 women took their own lives. In October, 7 men and 3 women were reported to have committed suicide.

During the first fifteen days of November, 8 men and 3 women took their own lives. The most suicide cases were reported in the month of November.

According to the information, the deceased used various methods to commit suicide, including consuming poison, gun fire, and hanging.

SSP Operations Lahore, Syed Ali Raza, said that the increasing cases of suicide need to be controlled. Not only government institutions, but society as a whole also needs to play a role in this regard.
