In a tragic incident in Quetta, Pakistan, three terrorists were killed while an army soldier lost his life in a fierce firefight with militants, as announced by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday.

The militants launched an attack on a security forces’ post near Wali Tangi on Thursday evening, leading to the exchange of fire. The ISPR stated that during the encounter, three terrorists were eliminated.

Unfortunately, Subedar Qaiser Raheem embraced martyrdom while bravely performing his duty, while another soldier sustained serious injuries, the ISPR statement added.

The statement further stated that the security forces of Pakistan would not stop in thwarting the efforts of those who seek to disrupt peace and prosperity in the country.

The interim Interior Minister, Sarfraz Bugti, expressed strong condemnation of the attack and extended prayers for the injured soldier’s swift recovery. He emphasized that terrorists did not deserve any mercy and vowed to eliminate them from the country.

Additionally, the National Assembly Speaker, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, also condemned the attack and paid tribute to the martyred soldier. He affirmed that the people of Pakistan and all institutions were united in their determination to eradicate the menace of terrorism.

Pakistan has experienced a surge in terrorist activities in recent months, particularly in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan regions, following the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) decision to end its ceasefire with the government in November last year.

A report from the think tank Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies highlighted a disturbing increase in terror and suicide attacks in the first half of this year, resulting in the loss of 389 lives across the country.
