After being missing for nearly five months, anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan has been “recovered” and has safely returned home, as confirmed by the Sialkot police.

Imran Riaz Khan was arrested on May 11 at the Sialkot Airport under the Maintenance of Public Order (3MPO) after protests broke out across the country following the arrest of the PTI chairman from the Islamabad High Court on May 9.

Sialkot police made the announcement on Twitter, stating, “Journalist/anchor Mr Imran Riaz Khan has been safely recovered. He is now with his family.”

Furthermore, Imran Riaz’s family has also confirmed his recovery.

Earlier, on September 6, the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted the Inspector General (IG) Punjab 13 days to recover anchorperson Imran Riaz. The missing journalist’s father had filed a petition seeking his son’s recovery.

IG Punjab Usman Anwar informed the court that there has been positive progress in the recovery of Imran Riaz. Requesting more time from the court, the police chief assured, “We will have good news in the next 10 to 15 days.”
