Gunmen have kidnapped several pupils from a government primary school in Kuriga town, Kaduna state. The abduction took place at the Local Government Education Authority School in Kuriga, with the exact number of pupils taken not yet confirmed. The incident occurred shortly after morning assembly, with the assailants escaping with nearly 200 pupils and students before any help could arrive. Abductions of students in northern Nigeria have been a recurring issue, with concerns growing since the 2014 kidnapping of more than 200 schoolgirls by Boko Haram. The recent abduction in Kuriga adds to the list of similar incidents in the northwest and central regions, where armed groups often target communities for ransom. Parents of the abducted children are pleading for help, expressing deep concern and frustration over the lack of government support in the area.
