Lahore: National cricket team director Mohammad Hafeez says that he had contacted Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir personally, but both former Pakistan cricketers did not want to play for the country.

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Mohammad Hafeez said, “Imad Wasim did not sign the central contract, so I called him and told him that he is in my plans as the team director and I want him to play for the Pakistan team and inform me of his availability.”

Mohammad Hafeez said, “Imad Wasim told me that he would think about it and two days later he messaged me that he will not be available for the upcoming series against New Zealand and after two days, he announced his retirement.”

According to Mohammad Hafeez, “I also called Mohammad Amir and requested him that if he wants to play for Pakistan, he should first take back his retirement and go back to domestic cricket so that the selection committee can pick him based on his performance, and when he returns to the team, I guarantee he will have no problems and will have equal opportunities like all other players.”

Director of National Team Mohammad Hafeez stated, “Amir told me that he considers himself better suited for international leagues. His life has changed in the past few years and he has moved forward. The decisions he has made for himself in the past are the ones he wants to follow.”
