Lahore: Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar has said that at least 5 senior police officers will face action for negligence in carrying out the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the recent suicide attack.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Federal Minister of Information Ataullah Tarar said that a committee formed on the directives of the Prime Minister has identified a regional police officer, 3 district officers, and the security director of a dam project as being negligent in their duties.

He stated that the Prime Minister has issued orders for immediate action against the mentioned officers, but did not provide further details on the punishment.

Tarar mentioned that the Prime Minister will personally oversee the security of Chinese nationals and officials who are found negligent will be set as examples. He emphasized that negligence in Chinese security matters will not be tolerated.

He further stated that the immediate action taken is proof that there will be no tolerance for negligence in the future regarding the security of Chinese citizens.

It should be noted that last month, following a suicide attack on a vehicle in Basham area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa resulting in the death of 5 engineers, Power China and China Gezhouba Company had halted work on two dams in the province.

Hundreds of Chinese engineers and workers are working on the Dasu and Diamer-Bhasha dams, where security concerns have been raised in the mountainous region.

Following the incident, Power China resumed work on the Diamer-Bhasha dam, while China Gezhouba Group has currently stopped work on the Dasu dam.

On the other hand, the police took action after the suicide attack and detained 12 individuals, including Afghan nationals.
