The news circulating on various news channels and social media regarding the issuance of plastic currency notes is unfounded, according to the State Bank. In a statement issued by the State Bank of Pakistan, it was clarified that the news circulating about the series of plastic (polymer) notes is not accurate. The State Bank strongly rejected these reports as false and baseless, stating that there is currently no plan or proposal under consideration to convert notes from paper to plastic (polymer). The State Bank uses cotton-based paper for its notes, which are locally produced using locally-sourced raw materials by Security Papers Limited.
