The commander of the banned militant group Baloch National Army, Sarfraz Ahmed Bungulzai, announced his surrender on Wednesday, along with 70 of his associates. The announcement was made at a press conference in Quetta, with provincial Information Minister Jan Achakzai also in attendance.

During the press conference, Bungulzai expressed regret for his armed struggle and stated that he realized the sacrifice of Baloch blood was for the interests of others, particularly pointing to India’s involvement in conspiracies. He and his associates have decided to join the national mainstream.

Bungulzai also highlighted the violence inflicted on innocent Baloch people and the manipulation by outside forces. He urged the youth to renounce violence, emphasizing the importance of education over weapons.

The caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar welcomed the surrender as a positive step towards peace and stability. He praised the efforts of the intelligence agencies involved in the operation. PML-N’s Shehbaz Sharif also commended the surrender, indicating it as a positive development for the people of Balochistan and emphasizing the professionalism of the law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
