PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari announced on Tuesday that his party would offer support to the incoming government for important votes like the election of the prime minister, but will not be part of the federal cabinet. This decision was made after a two-day meeting of the PPP’s Central Executive Committee, presided over by former President Asif Ali Zardari.

Both PPP and PML-N have been working to form a power-sharing formula in the national and Punjab assemblies as PTI-backed independent candidates secured a significant number of seats. The PTI has also announced coalitions with other parties.

Bilawal emphasized that the PPP’s main focus is to bring Pakistan out of the current crisis, and that his party will not be seeking to form a government in the federation. Despite this, they will support important votes and engage with other parties on an “issue-to-issue basis.”

On the other hand, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif stated that his party would gladly sit in the opposition benches if independent candidates were able to form a government. He also stressed the need for political unity in order to tackle the challenges faced by Pakistan.

Both leaders expressed their commitment to the democratic process and the larger interest of the country.
