PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has demanded elections to be conducted within the constitutional limit of 90 days. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has ruled out elections this year, but the deadline for holding polls following the dissolution of the National Assembly ends on November 9. Speaking to the media in Karachi, Bilawal emphasized that the country is currently facing three major issues: inflation, unemployment, and poverty. He stated that the PPP’s fight is against these challenges and that the party is committed to serving the people and improving their difficult economic conditions.

Bilawal also addressed the recent statement made by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), where he claimed that general elections could have been held earlier if the PPP had not backed out. Bilawal responded by saying that the PPP was ready for elections before, on May 14, and within 60 or 90 days as per the Constitution. He reiterated the PPP’s belief that elections should take place within 90 days and called for the Election Commission to announce the dates and schedule.

In addition, Bilawal expressed concern about the ECP’s decision to transfer police, provincial secretaries, and commissioners in Sindh. He argued that transfers should not be carried out until the election schedule is announced. Bilawal also criticized the halt of ongoing development and welfare projects in the province. He urged the ECP to review its policies and adopt a fair and consistent approach.

Responding to questions about his father, ex-president Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal mentioned that his father, who has been in politics for over 30 years, had faced numerous difficulties. He assured other politicians facing challenges that they should not worry and that it is an opportunity for them to gain experience and become effective politicians. Bilawal emphasized the importance of allowing the people to make their own decisions through free and fair elections, regardless of the party they choose.

Meanwhile, former interior minister Rana Sanaullah, from the PML-N party, posted on a social media platform that general elections will be held in February, with PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif leading the party’s electoral campaign.
