Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for firing on an Israeli team near the border, accusing them of installing spying devices. In response, Israel’s fighter jets have targeted Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon after an antitank missile wounded Israeli civilians near the border. The Israel Electric Corporation reported that the missile hit employees who were repairing power lines in Dovev, just 800 meters from the frontier with Lebanon. Since the October 7 Hamas attack and Israel’s offensive on Gaza, there has been near-daily fire exchanged between Israel and armed groups in southern Lebanon. In addition to Hezbollah, the Lebanese branch of Hamas has also launched attacks into southern Israel. The Israeli army intercepted 15 rockets fired from Lebanon on Sunday, with the Lebanese branch of Qassam Brigades claiming responsibility for targeting Israeli cities. Cross-border attacks from Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of at least six Israeli soldiers and two civilians. Israeli leaders have warned Hezbollah against launching a full-scale attack, citing the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah as an example.
