Finally, after a long rain delay, the rain-hit Super Four stage Asia Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan has resumed on the reserve day. India continues their innings from where they left off yesterday, with the score at 147-2.

Although it may seem like a battle between Pakistan and India, the real battle is against the rain and the numerous interruptions it causes. This unique ‘one day’ international match has now entered a second day, with India hoping to capitalize on the solid start provided by their openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.

Unfortunately, Pakistan fans received bad news as paceman Haris Rauf is ruled out of the game due to injury. Captain Babar Azam will now have to rely on a bunch of part-timers to fill the void.

In their innings, India faced some tough bowling from Pakistan. In the 28th over, Naseem found the edge of Kohli’s bat, but the ball raced away to the boundary, resulting in six runs. In the 27th over, Faheem bowled an economical over, giving away only three singles. Naseem was brought back into play in the 26th over, and two singles were scored, bringing India’s score to 152 for the loss of two wickets. The rain started to pour down in the 25th over, leading to a suspension of play for the day. The match was then resumed on the next day, with three singles scored to complete another good over from Shadab.

India’s score was 147/2 at the start of the 24th over when play was paused due to rain. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will continue their innings when the match restarts.

However, there is still a threat of rain on the reserve day. The weather forecast predicts a high chance of thunderstorms during the match. If the match is washed out again, both teams will receive one point each, which will push Pakistan to the top of the Super Four rankings.

Former cricketer Wasim Akram expressed his hopes for better weather in Colombo and urged everyone to enjoy the game despite the unpredictable conditions.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also reminded fans that their tickets from the previous day’s match could be used for the resumed game.

On Sunday, before rain interrupted the match, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a blazing start for India, scoring 56 and 58 runs respectively. However, rain caused multiple stoppages during the game, ultimately leading to its suspension.

Now, as play continues on the reserve day, fans eagerly anticipate a thrilling match between the arch-rivals, India and Pakistan.
