The northern province and the rest of the country are experiencing a surge in violence as national elections approach. A recent attack in northern Pakistan resulted in the deaths of at least 10 policemen, with six others being injured. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TPJ) has claimed responsibility for the attack, as the group seeks to overthrow the government and impose strict religious law. This comes as Pakistan’s 128 million voters prepare for the February 8 elections.

The province of Balochistan is also facing security threats, particularly from the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which has increased its attacks on military and security installations. As a result, the internet service will be temporarily restricted on election day to prevent potential exploitation by terrorists.

Balochistan, known for its rich natural resources, has been a constant target for armed groups. Initially seeking a share of provincial resources, Baloch nationalists have now begun a movement for complete independence. Violence and security concerns are mounting across Pakistan as the election date draws near.
