The Sindh High Court has ordered the accused to ensure their presence at the next hearing on the appeal against the acquittal in the murder case of Murtaza Bhutto. In the same hearing, Zulfiqar Junior also announced his involvement in the Bhutto murder case.

According to Express News, a two-member bench under the leadership of Justice Naamatullah Phulpoto conducted a hearing on the appeals against the acquittal of the accused in the murder case of Murtaza Bhutto, where former IG Sindh Shoaib Suddle, Raya Tahir, and others appeared.

Murtaza Bhutto’s son Zulfiqar Bhutto, along with his supporters, appeared in court. Both parties requested to schedule the hearing after the elections. The court postponed the hearing for 4 weeks based on the request. The court also ordered all the accused to ensure their presence at the next hearing.

Former police officer Shahid Hayat, Agha Jamil, Shabbir Ahmed, and several other accused have passed away. Ghulam Mustafa, Ahmed Khan, Raja Hamid, Gulzar Khan, Ghulam Shabbir, Zafar Iqbal, and Faisal Hamid are also included in the list of accused.

Murtaza Bhutto’s employee, Noor Mohammad Goga, filed an appeal against the acquittal of the accused in 2010. It was said in the appeals that on September 20, 1996, Murtaza Bhutto and his companions were targeted with bullets near their house. After the incident, Noor Mohammad, along with the government, filed 2 cases. In December 2009, a court had acquitted 20 police officers, as well as Murtaza Bhutto and his companions.

After the hearing, while speaking off the record with the media, Zulfiqar Junior said that his purpose in coming here today was to seek justice. We believe that those who were nominated in this case are responsible for this incident. Those involved in the case were rewarded, indicating that they have performed their job.

He said that despite the injustice done to my grandfather, we still have hope in our judicial system for justice. We are also considering becoming a party in the Supreme Court in the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto murder reference.
