Rome, Italy: Italian football club Juventus and French national player Paul Pogba have been suspended for four years due to a positive doping result.
According to the Reuters report, Italian media reported that Pogba was initially banned for four years at the beginning of the current season for doping offenses, but he can appeal against this decision in the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
According to the report, the prosecutor’s appeal has resulted in a four-year ban on Pogba, but the French player will appeal against the ban.
Juventus, the Italian club, has not issued a statement on this matter yet, but sources have confirmed that the club was informed about this decision and will review it for the next course of action.
The 30-year-old footballer from Juventus denied committing any crime, while his contract with the club is until June 2026.
Pogba said in a statement that he was informed today of the decision of the National Anti-Doping Tribunal (NADO Italy), and he believes that this decision is incorrect.
He said that he is depressed, upset, and heartbroken because what he has achieved in his professional career has been taken away from him.
The French player said that he will appeal against the decision heard today in the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
On the other hand, Italy’s National Anti-Doping Organization (NADO Italy) refrained from commenting on Pogba’s case citing privacy concerns.
