Washington: Israel has agreed to a daily four-hour ceasefire to allow Palestinians to evacuate from northern Gaza, according to international media reports.

According to the White House, Israel will begin its military operation against Hamas in the northern Gaza areas on a four-hour ceasefire starting Thursday. There will be no military action in these areas during the ceasefire. Israel will announce the ceasefire at least three hours in advance.

John Kirby said that we understand that this ceasefire is a step in the right direction to allow civilians to safely reach areas away from active combat. These ceasefires will allow humanitarian aid to be transported to these areas where operations have been carried out and provide an opportunity for Palestinians present there to leave.

Israeli forces are also conducting airstrikes in addition to ground fighting in Gaza, resulting in large-scale displacement from the city. The United Nations’ Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs was quoted as saying that on Wednesday, 50,000 people were displaced to the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

This is the highest number so far this week. The United Nations said that as of Sunday, a total of 72,000 people have been displaced from northern Gaza.

It should be noted that since October 7, at least 10,812 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza, while in the same period, the number of casualties in Israel is more than 1,400.
