Saatat Hasan Manto, a renowned writer, passed away at the age of 69. His stories, articles, and sketches are still discussed and his life has been depicted in films in Pakistan and India. Born on May 11, 1912, in Ludhiana, India, Manto gained recognition for his short stories while studying at Aligarh Muslim University. He actively participated in the freedom movement and beautifully portrayed the events during the partition of India in his works. Manto’s stories still reflect the bitter realities of our society. He faced financial difficulties and passed away on January 18, 1955, and was posthumously awarded by the government 57 years after his death.
