Peshawar: Last year, the government of the Tehreek-e-Insaf in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa came to an end due to the analysis of the assembly, while the formation of two interim governments took place. A major suicide bombing occurred in Peshawar’s Police Lines, resulting in 100 casualties, including many police officers. In the Dera Ismail Khan district, 23 soldiers were martyred during an operation against militants, while 27 militants were killed.

During the month of January in 2023, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan dissolved his government while analyzing the provincial assembly on the instructions of PTI Chairman Imran Khan at that time. As a result, Asad Qaiser was made the interim chief minister of the province, but after his demise in November, Governor Shaukat Hussain Shah was appointed as the interim chief minister with the consultation of former Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and opposition leader Akram Durrani

During this time, the entire provincial cabinet was resigned in the month of August, and a new cabinet was formed in the tenure of Asad Khan. As a result, some ministers took oath three times.

In January, a suicide bombing occurred in the Peshawar Police Lines, resulting in the deaths of 100 people and injuries to around 150. In February, a meeting was held under the supervision of the interim chief minister for the arrangement of general elections, where 56,000 police and 1,500 FC personnel were required.

Efforts continued during the terms of both interim governments to obtain financial resources from the center, but the province could not receive adequate resources. The provincial government presented the budget twice from October to February, showing a loss of 79 billion rupees for the province.

During the month of Ramadan, more than 168,000 families were provided with free flour distribution, amounting to more than 20 billion rupees. During the current year, Justice Musarrat Hilali became the first female Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, and later, she was appointed as the first female judge of the Supreme Court from the province.

During the PTI era, 1,109 social media influencers were terminated after being given a monthly salary of 25,000 rupees. During this time, there was a revolt within the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and two former governors entered the arena, one of whom was later persuaded by Captain Safdar.

Former IG and provincial minister Syed Masood Shah chaired two provincial cabinet meetings during Asad Khan’s tenure. Due to heavy rains and landslides, five people lost their lives while containers fell during the rain, leaving seven injured. A blast occurred at the Swat CTD station, resulting in 12 deaths and 53 injuries.

After the arrest of former PTI Chairman Imran Khan, the country was engulfed in flames on May 9, as the Radio Pakistan building in Peshawar and the Swat Motorway toll plaza were set on fire, and metric exams were postponed, resulting in the deaths of seven people and injuries to 188.

The PTI was faced with extreme resistance, and as a result, many of its leaders went into hiding. Arrests continued, and their appearances in courts continued, and former PTI Chief Ministers Pervez Khattak and Mahmood Khan left the party, forming the PTI Parliamentarians.

In the same year, the FATA and PATA regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa completed five years of annexation, and on July 11, former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited Peshawar and distributed laptops to students, causing a political uproar between ANP and JUI-F.

The ANP announced the provincial manifesto for the general elections, and in the by-elections of Muttahida Qaumi Movement in the Tehsil Mardan, the PTI won the seat and obtained the chairmanship.

The additional commissioner of Kohat and the deputy secretary of Auqaf were arrested and handed over to NAB, leading to severe reactions from the provincial management service.

During the same year, deadly diseases broke out in Chitral, and the Chief Minister took immediate notice. A decision was made to end 80,000 vacant positions in government departments, and a plan was made to generate 2,200 MW of cheap electricity in PAKDA within eight years.

Tensions continued at the Torkham border due to various disputes, resulting in frequent border closures. A budget of 5.14 billion rupees was presented for the tax-free budget of the Metropolitan Peshawar, and the historical Dar ul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak fell into a financial crisis with debts amounting to billions of rupees.

New constituency boundaries reduced the number of seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, depriving Peshawar and Hangu of one seat each.

The MD CAT exam for admissions to medical and dental colleges was annulled, leading to a major scandal, and the tests were conducted again. Illegal Afghan refugees and other immigrants residing in Pakistan departed the country, and millions of immigrants returned to their homeland.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial cabinet approved the inclusion of the finality of Prophethood in marriage registration, and the two-year associate degree program was terminated in all colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Anwar ul Haq Kakar, visited the province for the first time on October 13 and announced the establishment of a committee for the payment of financial obligations in Peshawar.

The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa inaugurated the online government business commission portal and good governance to promote trade activities in the province. The commission started its operations in four departments: finance, higher education, sports, and IT, while the provincial government also took action against the heads and teachers of 1,469 government schools for poor results in matric exams.
