Irfan Qadir has expressed the need for Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa to re-examine certain decisions made by the former chief justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. His comments come as Justice Qazi Faez Isa was sworn in as the 29th chief justice on Sunday.

One of the important matters that will be deliberated upon by a Supreme Court bench on Monday is the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Act 2023. This bill calls for the establishment of benches, consisting of three senior judges, to address constitutional matters of public importance.

Previously, the enforcement of the aforementioned act was suspended by an eight-judge bench, which was headed by the former chief justice, on April 13.

Qadir expressed his hope that the suspension of the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Act 2023 would be overturned. He also suggested that around 10 to 15 judgments need to be reviewed and corrected. Qadir further stated that it is incumbent upon Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa to unite the court, address divisions among judges, and restore the image of the top court.
