Islamabad: Inflation continued to rise in the country ahead of the arrival of Ramadan, with a 1.11% increase recorded during the past week. According to data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, prices of 14 items increased, prices of 14 items decreased, and prices of 23 essential items remained stable during the week.

The data shows that during the past week, prices of several items including potatoes, eggs, onions, tomatoes, beef, and mutton increased. Prices of LNG increased by 4.43%, onions by 33.86%, eggs by 2.66%, potatoes by 23.81%, tomatoes by 16.42%, petrol by 1.49%, mutton by 0.50%, and beef by 1.38%.

On the other hand, prices of chicken decreased by 6.95%, tea leaves by 1.29%, lentils by 0.26%, cooking oil by 0.96%, plain bread by 0.51%, garlic by 0.39%, vegetable ghee by 0.23%, and sugar by 0.40%.

In terms of the sensitivity indicator, the rate of inflation for the class with a monthly income of up to Rs. 17,732 for annual basis was 27.43% during the past week. Similarly, for the class with a monthly income ranging from Rs. 17,733 to Rs. 22,888, the inflation rate was recorded at 31.40%, and for the class with a monthly income between Rs. 22,889 and Rs. 29,517, the inflation rate was recorded at 37.80%.

For the class with a monthly income ranging from Rs. 29,518 to Rs. 44,175, the inflation rate was 24.48%, while for the class with a monthly income exceeding Rs. 44,176, the inflation rate was 28.70%.
