Islamabad: The Pakistan Army has formed a committee to investigate allegations of pressure on a private housing society against former ISI DG General (Retd) Faiz Hameed.

According to sources, the army has initiated a process of accountability within the organization on the directives of the Supreme Court and Ministry of Defence, and has formed a high-level committee to investigate the top city scandal against former ISI DG Lieutenant General (Retd) Faiz Hameed.

Under the leadership of Major General, the committee will use its influence to pressure the top city administration and investigate the allegations of obtaining unauthorized benefits, and will make recommendations for action if the allegations are proven.

It should be noted that a three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed had denied taking action in the case under Article 184(3) and had ordered the petitioner to refer to the Ministry of Defence.

The court had stated that it is a matter of institutional dignity, so the institution should conduct its own investigation. In accordance with the Ministry of Defence’s directives, the leadership of the Pakistan Army has decided to conduct its own investigation into the allegations against its former officer under the institution’s own accountability system.
