Pakistan has temporarily stopped issuing 100-page passports, according to an announcement by the passport office. While apologizing for any inconvenience caused, officials stated that this closure is only temporary.
The decision comes after the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, under the Ministry of Interior, introduced e-passports in all passport offices across the country. In June, the federal government implemented the issuance of e-passports.
The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has released the fee structure for the new e-passports. For a 36-page passport valid for 5 years, the fee is Rs9,000. An urgent e-passport will cost Rs15,000.
For a 72-page e-passport, the fee is Rs16,500 for a normal application and Rs27,000 for an urgent application. A 36-page passport valid for 10 years will cost Rs13,500 for a normal application and Rs22,500 for an urgent application.
For a 72-page passport valid for 10 years, the fee is Rs24,750 for a normal application and Rs40,500 for an urgent application. Normal passport fees will stay the same. These fees will be effective from August 16.
With the introduction of e-passports, Pakistan aims to streamline the passport issuance process, offering better security and more convenient services for its citizens.
