The notification regarding the fee waiver by the Governor is not for individuals, says the Higher Education department

Prior to this, a statement issued by the Higher Education department had mentioned that the decision regarding the fee waiver at Aitchison College, announced by the Governor of Punjab, is in accordance with the college’s regulations dated 21.03.2024.

The statement also clarified that the information circulating in the media regarding the Governor’s decision is contradictory to the context of the decision made. The decision will apply to all parents who are required to relocate to another city for a period of time due to certain circumstances, not just a single individual.

It was further stated that this decision was made to not charge fees after a student leaves school, and the principal of Aitchison College had submitted his resignation to the Governor of Punjab on August 1st last year due to personal reasons, which was accepted, and then the principal decided to leave the college on April 1st.

Meanwhile, it was revealed through the Governor of Punjab’s sources that the resignation of the principal of Aitchison College, Michael Thomson, had come a few days ago, but it became public today.

The Governor of Punjab’s sources stated that the principal of Aitchison College, Lahore, Michael Thomson used to receive a monthly salary of 4 million and also took 100 holidays annually. The resignation issue came to light when the principal’s hopes of getting relief on merit were dashed.

On the other hand, the principal’s sources say that Thomson, disappointed with the murder of merit and political interference, had gained the confidence of the Board of Management and staff and then resigned. Sources claim that after Thomson, other important board members are also prepared to resign.
