Imtithal, a mother of six, finds herself in the Maghazi refugee camp in the Gaza Strip as she bakes bread for her family over a wood fire. She reflects on her previous routine in the Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood in western Gaza, before the Israeli bombardment began.

Forced to flee to the Maghazi camp after Israeli forces ordered civilians to evacuate northern Gaza, Imtithal and her family escaped just in time to avoid the destruction of their home in the bombing. She now worries about the condition of her house and misses her normal routine.

Imtithal reminisces about making breakfast and packing lunch boxes for her children before they went to school, while also finding time for herself to exercise and relax. However, her current reality in the refugee camp is far from ordinary, with ongoing struggles to access electricity, the internet, and basic necessities like cooking gas.

She is haunted by the loss of her cousin in a bombing, the inability to communicate with family, and the toll the war is taking on her young son’s mental health. Imtithal longs for the days when she could live her daily routine in peace, free from the devastation and hardships of war.
