Driver Arrested for Ramming Man and Three Children in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Karachi

Karachi police have successfully apprehended a suspect who was allegedly driving a pickup truck that rammed into four members of a family in the Gulshan-i-Iqbal area last weekend. The incident caused injuries to a man, his two young daughters, and his niece, all of whom are currently undergoing medical treatment at a private hospital.

The distressing CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media. It showed the vehicle speeding and colliding with a group of people, including young children, as well as a rickshaw. To make matters worse, the driver was seen fleeing the scene and running over the injured victims once again.

The police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the suspect, with charges including rash driving (under Section 279) and causing hurt to the head or face (under Section 337) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Despite this, details about the suspect and the motive behind the incident have not been disclosed.

The complainant, Sajjad Hussain, who sustained injuries, filed the FIR against the incident a day ago. He explained in his complaint that on August 27, he and his family members had visited the Sunday Bazaar in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Block-7 for shopping. As they returned to their parked vehicle, an unidentified double cabin vehicle (Revo) collided with them from an unknown direction and fled the scene.

Sajjad shared that he lost consciousness due to his injuries and regained it at the hospital, where he discovered he had suffered internal head injuries along with broken legs. His daughter, Horain (4 years old), sustained injuries to her head, leg, and foot, while his other daughter, Hania (7 years old), suffered wounds below her eyes and ribs. His niece, Hamna Shahzad (5 years old), received injuries to her neck, leg, hands, and shoulder. All of them are currently receiving treatment at the emergency ward of Liaquat National Hospital.
