The Islamabad administration has issued a detention order under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) against Pervaiz Elahi, a prominent member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The order states that the presence of Elahi, as well as other PTI workers and supporters in the federal cabinet, could potentially worsen the law and order situation.

The Special Branch and Intelligence Bureau (IB) had specifically requested the administration to issue the detention order for a period of 30 days. It is important to note that Elahi has the right to challenge the MPO order in court. The order was issued by the deputy commissioner (DC) of Islamabad.

In a separate incident, Pervaiz Elahi was re-arrested from Zahoor Elahi Road in Lahore, shortly after being released by the Lahore High Court (LHC) in the Assets Beyond Means case. The capital police arrested Elahi under the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order and he will be transferred to Islamabad via helicopter.

Earlier in the day, Elahi appeared before the Lahore High Court (LHC), where Justice Amjad Rafiq presided over the hearing and ordered his release in the Assets Beyond Means case. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had initially arrested Elahi for his failure to provide information regarding the case against him, his son Monis Elahi, and other family members.

Furthermore, NAB sources have revealed that an inquiry has been initiated against Moonis Elahi for excessive assets. Elahi was taken from Adiala Jail to appear before the session court in Rawalpindi for transit remand by a team from NAB Lahore.

In conclusion, Pervaiz Elahi’s detention order issued under MPO raises concerns about the potential law and order disturbances caused by his presence in the PTI and the federal cabinet. The situation remains complicated, with ongoing legal proceedings and inquiries surrounding the Assets Beyond Means case against Elahi and his family.
