The PTI announced that former prime minister Imran Khan, currently in Adiala Jail, will run for the upcoming general elections from three constituencies. Imran was convicted in a case filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan and sentenced to three years in jail, leading to a five-year disqualification from contesting elections. However, the Islamabad High Court suspended his sentence, though he remains in jail for other cases. Imran’s petition seeking suspension of his conviction in the Toshakhana gifts case is pending. Barrister Ali Zafar stated that Imran will contest elections from at least three constituencies and hoped for a favorable verdict. PTI workers have been instructed to file their nomination papers, and the party is pushing for free and fair elections. PTI Chairman Gohar Khan emphasized the need for a level playing field for all political parties and stated that Imran and other PTI members will contest the elections.
