Finding Hope in the Midst of the Gaza | Israel Conflict

In October 1973, war broke out in the Middle East when the Egyptian army launched Operation Badr, crossing the Suez Canal and capturing the Bar Lev Line. Palestinian refugees hoped for the liberation of their land but Arab leaders ended up suing for peace with Israel. Palestinian satirist Emile Habibi published a novel that critiqued the Palestinian reality. Fast forward to 2023, Alaa, a relative of mine from Gaza, lost her children during an Israeli army invasion, and has been desperately searching for them. The International Court of Justice ruling has brought no relief as Israel refuses to provide any information on the whereabouts of her children. The city of Gaza has been under attack and people are starving. Genocide in Gaza continues as basic human values are ignored and the hope for change remains as small as finding a penny.
