In Karachi, the first batch of the Associate Degree Program has not been able to pass due to the negligence and indifference of the teachers in government colleges. The program was launched three years ago, but the teachers of government colleges have yet to submit the examination copies for scrutiny by the University of Karachi, which has resulted in the delayed release of the results.

The annual exams for the Associate Degree Program were held in September 2023 at various colleges and universities in Karachi, and the examination copies were to be submitted for scrutiny. However, the teachers responsible for this task have failed to do so, causing a delay in the announcement of the results.

According to estimates, even if not thousands, at least more than a thousand students are currently unable to continue their education due to the delay in the results. Despite their desire to obtain a four-year degree, they are unable to enroll in the University of Karachi and other universities due to the lack of a B.S. Third Year Admission.

Furthermore, the current session of the University of Karachi has started, but the students awaiting the results of the Associate Degree Program are unable to join this session. The Vice Chancellor has issued instructions to the teachers responsible for examination copies to submit the results, which are now beginning to be sent.

The solution to this problem, according to Dr. Shahid Zaidi, is to not allow these teachers to handle examination copies in the future. The delay in the results has affected subjects such as English, Urdu, Islamic Studies, as well as other fields of study.

It is important to note that the University of Karachi has only granted provisional admission based on the results of the first year of the Associate Degree in some cases. This has affected a significant number of students who were unable to continue their education due to the teachers’ failure to execute the examination process. Therefore, the dream of obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree is currently not within their reach.

The Associate Degree is not equivalent to a graduation degree, and students would need to obtain two additional years of education from a university to complete their education. However, due to the indifference of college teachers, students of the first batch of the Associate Degree Program are currently unable to realize this dream.
