Rio de Janeiro: A unique incident has occurred in Brazil where a woman brought her deceased uncle to the bank in order to collect a loan.

According to media reports, a 42-year-old woman in Brazil needed a loan from the bank for which the signature of a citizen named Paulo Roberto was required. The woman brought Paulo to the bank, who was in a dead state, and was subsequently arrested.

A woman named Erika de Souza arrived at Itau Unibanco bank in Rio de Janeiro with a 68-year-old man who was on a wheelchair and had identification under the name of Paulo Roberto. The purpose of the woman’s visit was to secure a $3,200 bank loan under Paulo Roberto’s name.

Erika claimed that she is the niece and caregiver of Paulo. Bank employees soon realized that something was amiss as the niece was seen supporting Paulo’s head with her hands.

The bank employees were initially unaware that Paulo was alive, while Erika tried to convince them that they are naturally quiet. Erika even tried to speak with Paulo, but it was evident that he was unable to respond. The employees immediately informed the police, who arrived at the scene and arrested the woman when the charade was revealed.

A medical examination revealed that Paulo had passed away a few hours prior due to natural causes. The woman was arrested on charges of desecrating a corpse and attempted fraud.
