Karachi: Pakistan Navy and Maritime Security Agency rescued the lives of 9 Indian citizens while conducting a joint search and rescue operation in the Arabian Sea. According to the spokesperson of the Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Navy rescued 9 Indian citizens by repairing a capsized Indian boat in collaboration with Maritime Time Security Agency.

An Ocean Tag 5 registered in Saint Kitts and Nevis was inactive near the Indian coast, about 167 nautical miles northeast of Karachi. The tag was facing problems due to the failure of its electric generator, resulting in a power outage. On the early morning of February 4th, the Joint Maritime Time Information and Coordination Center of the Pakistan Navy received a distress signal from the mentioned tag. The tag had departed from the port of Dabhol in Maharashtra, India and was heading towards Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.

The Pakistan Navy had assigned the Long Range Maritime Time Patrol Aircraft with the task of searching for the tag in the sea. The Pakistan Maritime Security Ship (PMSS) Kashmir conducted a search and rescue operation on behalf of the area, which was part of regular Maritime Security Operations. PMSS Kashmir successfully recovered and repaired the tag after technical support and extensive efforts for three hours.

In addition to technical assistance, medical facilities, food, and fresh water were provided to the exhausted crew of the tag, after which the tag started its journey towards the port of the United Arab Emirates.

The timely action and professional skills of Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency were highly appreciated by the ship’s crew.
