As Pakistan gets ready for their first game at the World Cup tomorrow, Captain Babar Azam expressed his determination for the national squad to give their best performance in the prestigious event.

The World Cup, which commenced today in India with a match between England and New Zealand, marks the beginning of an exciting journey for the Pakistan cricket team. Their first match in this 50-over tournament is scheduled for October 6th against the Netherlands in Hyderabad. The highly anticipated match against arch-rivals India will take place in Ahmedabad on October 14th.

In a video posted on the social media platform X by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Azam shared his feelings about Pakistan’s unexpected reception upon their arrival in India. Despite the absence of Pakistani supporters, he mentioned that the team would have greatly benefited from their presence, expressing gratitude for the support received so far.

Azam then discussed the team’s preparations for their opening match, revealing that they spent a week in Hyderabad experimenting with various batting and bowling combinations in warm-up matches. He acknowledged that Pakistan’s strength primarily lies in their fast bowlers, but also highlighted the impressive performance of their spinners in taking wickets during middle overs.

He further emphasized that each player in the middle and lower-middle order was stepping up and fulfilling their respective roles, which he regarded as an encouraging sign for the team’s success. Azam praised the quality of pitches in the host country, describing them as “very good,” and expressed optimism for high-scoring matches.

Regarding Pakistan’s bowling strategy, Azam mentioned that the bowlers would focus on employing variations and bowling “wicket to wicket,” intending to take crucial wickets throughout the tournament.

With Babar Azam’s strong leadership and the team’s determination, Pakistan fans have every reason to be excited for their team’s performance in the upcoming World Cup matches.
